She was born February 14, 1916, in Beggs, Oklahoma, to James W. and Cora Mae King. Bertha has lived in the OKC area for the past 10 years moving here from Bristow, OK. She was a lifetime member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Bristow. During her working years, she owned and operated a service station. Bertha enjoyed providing for the elderly. Howard and Bertha were members of the Masonic Lodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Cora King; husband, Howard C. Matlock; one brother, Evert King; one sister, Thelma Atwell; and one son-in-law, Harold Dearman. Survivors include a son, James E. and his wife, Penny Matlock of OKC; two daughters, Linda Dearman of OKC, Carolyn and her husband, Ralph LeGrand of Stockton, CA; three sisters-in-law, Viola Matlock of Muldrow, OK, Rosie King and Katie Trout both of Bristow, OK; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and numerous other loving family and friends. Graveside services were held 11 a.m., Mon., April 21, 2003, at the Magnolia Cemetery, Bristow, OK. VONDEL L. SMITH & SON MORTUARY 6934 S.
