Manes, Jr., 63, was born in Oklahoma City on June 2, 1939, to Ira Elbert and Beatrice Katherine (Thurber) Manes. He attended Central High School and graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City in 1957. Ira attended the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University. He served in the US Armed Forces as a German Linguist, worked as an assistant manager for Hagee's and later for IBM. In 1974 he became a real estate appraiser and later a broker. Ira served on the Board of Realtors as vice president and president. He was active in his church, serving as a board member, treasurer, and first reader. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Carolyn Frances Mainard Manes; daughters, Joy Elizabeth Cavett, Katherine Dawn Dilley, and Carolyn Noel Manes-Lee; grandchildren, Michael Sloan and Gabriel Scott Dilley; sister, Mildred Carpenter and niece Donna Butcher. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 28, 2002, at the Smith & Kernke Chapel, 14624 N. May.
