Manolis Ruth W. Manolis, 92, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John Eastern Orthodox Church with the Rev. Photius Bouton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, Inc., 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Manolis was born in Mena, Ark., and moved to Amarillo during World War II from Oklahoma City. In 1914 she received a degree in Education from East Central College, Oklahoma, taught the sixth grade in Oklahoma City, and later taught English at the Hereford POW camp. She retired after 30 years as a time clerk for Santa Fe Railway where she was founder of the Railroad Women's Association. She was a member of St. John Eastern Orthodox Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Manolis, in 1983; by a son, Jack Manolis, and by a daughter, Mary Ann Cadman. Survivors include two sisters; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to American Cancer Society, 3915 S.
