Memorial Services will be held at 9:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Norman, Oklahoma located at the corner of Asp and Duffy. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Mr. Martin was born October 24, 1935 in Oklahoma City, to John Roy and Nannie Case Martin. He graduated with the first graduating class of Oklahoma City Southeast High School. He worked for Mid Continent News Company in Oklahoma City for over twenty years. Mr. Martin married Scherrie M. Dozier Martin on January 29, 1972 in Oklahoma City. He moved to Norman from Oklahoma City in 1982. Mr. Martin owned and operated a Baskin-Robbins ice cream in Norman for about ten years in the 1980s. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, hiking, camping and outdoor photography. Jerry never met a tree he didn't like and asked that in lieu of flowers, a tree be planted or a donation to St. John's Episcopal Church 'Make Room For God' Building Fund at P.O.Box 2088, Norman, OK 73070. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leroy and Jimmie; and one grandchild, Micheal Richardson. Survivors include his wife, Scherrie, of the home; son, John Roy Martin of Norman, OK; three daughters, Rebecca Streeter and husband, Ralph, of Moore, OK, Christy Martin of Walsenburg, CO, and Terri Martin of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandchildren, Leslie Swift and husband, Gil and Lauren Richardson, all of Oklahoma City, OK; and loving pets, Duke, Sweet Pea, and Bartleby; four sisters, Ethelene Kemp and husband, Albert of Oklahoma City, OK, Alma Coffman and husband, Webster, of Oklahoma City, OK and Betty Schwan and husband, Barney, of Wichita, KS, and Juanita Reynolds of Oklahoma City, OK; three brothers, Bill Martin and wife, Doris, of Oklahoma City, OK, Charlie Martin and wife, Velma, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Donnie Martin and wife, Peggy, of Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in law, Betty Martin of Moore, OK; and numerous nephews and nieces.
