After all, it would have been unlike him to go any other way. He was a man of strong will, a man of adventure and travel, of doo-diddle songs and endless jokes at the supper table. More than that, he was the sturdy thread that held his family together. There was always some new story to hear about his life, always a twinkle in his eye when he told his family another tale about riding the rails as a boy, piling his eight kids in the car for a drive, or roofing nearly every house for miles around. As he chuckled his way through them, it was obvious that everything about life excited him, and that it gave him renewed joy just to relive these moments again by passing them on to those he loved. There are so many more he still has left to tell, for he lived everyday of his 81 years with vigor. What a blessing that someday we'll have forever to sit and listen to him chuckle, watch him twinkle- and peel away all of the stories his memory holds. He is survived by seven children, Sharon, Stewart, Eva, Tim, Mark, Dean and Kelly; 2 brothers, Dan and Jack Matheson; 1 sister, Fern Borden; 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Matheson; his parents, John and Eliza Matheson; 6 brothers, one sister, and son Terry Walker. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 6, 2003 at Baggerley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Whisler Cemetery. Baggerley Funeral Home 930 S.
