All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Melton, Steven Alan Steven Alan Melton Former resident of San Pablo Beloved son, brother, dad, grandpa, and "Papa Wheelie," Steven Alan Melton was beamed up on Friday, March 30, 2007 at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. Steve was born on December 3, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was raised in San Pablo, California and graduated from Richmond High School in 1966. He moved to Siskiyou County in 1975, and always considered it home. Steve referred to himself as a clown in his own circus. He had a wonderful sense of humor and played many pranks. Steve had a great love of reading, adventure, and learning, and passed those traits on to his children. He enjoyed anything science, fact or fiction, especially Star Trek. Steve loved telling stories and entertained many people with the tales of his childhood. Steve went back to college when he was in his forties and graduated with honors, earning an AA degree in business management from the College of the Siskiyous. He was also a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa. Steve worked several different jobs over the years, but was most proud of his work with the Siskiyou County Department of Human Services. After he retired he spent his time pursuing his hobbies which included genealogy, crafts, astronomy, and geology. Steve's true pride and joy were his grandchildren. He truly shined when spending time with them and made it clear that he loved them dearly. Steve will be greatly missed by his sons, Matthew of Chesterfield, MO, and Joseph of Anchorage, AK; daughters, Kathy (Brian) Wilson of Dunsmuir, CA, and Darci (Aaron) Everett of Marion, IA; grandchildren, Christopher Melton, Madison Speed, Joseph and Kaytlyn Melton, Maia and Elias Wilson, and David and Trinity Everett; parents, Joe and Doris Guarino; brothers, Roger Melton, Tony Guarino and Robin Guarino; sisters, Valerie Opliger and Adrienne Hall; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was much loved by his dog Abby who misses his scritches. He was preceded in death by his biological father Troy Melton in 1989. The family held a private memorial at the Murdoch- Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 1, 2007.
