All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Mencke, Joyce May 1917 - 2005 Joyce May Mencke, 87, a beloved mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, in Arlington. Memorial service: private at a later date. Memorials: American Hospice, 3124 S.E. Loop 820, Fort Worth 76140. Joyce May Leppleman was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Chandler, Okla. She married Raymond Mencke in Oklahoma City, Okla., in 1939 and moved to Texas in 1945. They had three children, Nell Lynn Nichter, Dian Raye Darr and Charles Roy Mencke. Joyce was lovingly known as "Gammy" to her grandchildren and family friends. Never one for a dull moment, Joyce was an avid thinker and reader whose interest in art, literature, spirituality, politics, music and history were central to her deep enjoyment of a good conversation or debate. A committed student of Christian Science, Joyce's deep relationship with God helped her serve as a perceptive and loving spiritual helper for many family members and friends. She was also an avid painter and student of the techniques of Claude Monet. Joyce, a complex and engaging conversationalist, had a boundless heart. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. The family wants to thank Mariner Health of Arlington, where she had resided for the last four years. The devoted and caring staff always made her feel that she was with family. The family also wants to thank the staff of American Hospice for their kind and loving help during this transition in her life. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers, Carl, Roy and Melvin Leppelman. Survivors: Daughters, Nell Lynn Nichter and Dian M. Darr; son, Charles Roy Mencke; grandchildren, Debbie Schwanbeck and husband, Bruce, Beverly Henigh and husband, Stan, Amy McComb and husband, Scott, Jennifer Darnold and husband, Lee, Jonathan Darr and partner, T.C. Duong, and Jason Darr; great-grandchildren, Brent, Justin and Ryan Schwanbeck, Nicholas and Alexa Naumovich, Ashley McComb, Carson Lee and Cooper Reed Darnold; son-in-law, Ronald Darr; and daughter- in-law, Terry Mencke.
