Mier, Patsy Sue

Patsy Sue Mier, 69, passed away at home after a long illness on April 
18, 2007. We find comfort in the knowledge that she is free of pain 
and resting peacefully in the arms of our Heavenly Father. A private 
family gathering was held to celebrate Pat's life on April 23, 2007. 
Patsy Sue Britt was born in East Prairie, MO to Wayne E. and Martha 
Rebecca Britt, and spent most of her youth in the midwest area of the 
country. She graduated from high school in Midwest City, OK, and then 
moved to Bakersfield in the late 1960's where she lived the last 40 
years of her life. After graduating from the Bakersfield College 
Registered Nurse program in 1976, she began her nursing career at 
Mercy Hospital. She then spent many years working for the County of 
Kern, first at Kern Medical Center, then completing her nursing 
career at Juvenile Hall. Patsy was very dedicated to her profession 
and felt genuine compassion for her patients. She was twice nominated 
by Kern County Registered Nurses Society for "Nurse of the Year." She 
is survived by her children, Patti L. (Maynord) Culver, and son-in-
law, James Culver; Lisa J. Maynord and Albert J. "Joey" Mier; 
grandchildren, Trevor Larimer and Jane Larimer; siblings, Faye 
Williams, Murry Britt and wife, Barbara; Peggy Tarr and husband, Bob; 
Gary Britt and wife, Lynne; as well as nieces and nephews. Patsy was 
a unique, one-of-a-kind individual. All those who knew her, enjoyed 
her sense of humor and fun-loving spirit. She was know for her 
compassion and her overwhelming generosity. She will be deeply missed 
by all those who knew her and loved her. Patsy Sue Mier Nov. 23, 1937 
- Apr. 18, 2007
