Her ascension will be acknowledged by family and friends with graveside services at 3:30 pm on April 3, 2003, at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, OK. She was born March 16, 1916 to 'Casey' Samuel & Elizabeth Turnbull. Marie is remembered for her many years contribution as an educator in the Mid- Del School System as an English teacher and drama coach. In life, Marie remained staid to her personal and ethical values of hard work, generosity and a compassion for her fellow man. Marie's life was of an independence imbued by her early enlistment into the United States Navy Waves. Her independent thinking is remembered by her wit and self-reliance and many other aspiring qualities. Marie accomplished an unheard of feat by obtaining a college degree as valedictorian of her class during the depression years; a time when it was difficult for all, just to merely put food on the table, much less attend college and obtain a degree as a woman. She made the great sacrifice of putting off marriage and children, and also her love for teaching in order that she may serve her country as a sergeant in the Navy during a time of war. All of these achievements serve as true testament to Marie's personal strength and independence that has served her throughout her lifetime. There are women and there are great ladies and Marie will be remembered as a woman of great aplomb and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by 2 daughters: Gail Windsor of OKC and Susan Gibson and husband Dewayne of OKC; 4 grandchildren: Misty Gibson, Shad & Todd Turoczi and Wendy Sanchez; 6 great grandchildren: Tehran, Haven, Koston, Taylre, Rylee & Brookelyn; brother: Casey Turnbull of Phoenix, AZ; 2 sisters: Nadine Dryden of Oelrichs, S.D. & Idellia 'Dell' Robb of Wyoming. Her parents and her husband, Gibson, preceded her in death.
