Michael C., was born April 19, 1949 and died peacefully at 2:10 a.m. on the cool, starlit morning of August 19, 2002. During his 16-month illness with cancer he received an enormous amount of love from friends and family. Despite his illness, his last days were happy. We want to thank all who helped in so many ways. Michael was the true definition of Cowboy and was a lover of fine horses. He attended Arcadia public schools and Langston University. He worked in the trucking industry over 25 years. Michael was preceded in death by his loving mother, Norma Leatha Traylor; his son Wynn Michael; step-son Brent Duclos; and step-father Kenneth Traylor. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Paulette; his father, Vernon Nelson & wife Ann; his in laws, Paul & Mary Pfeil; his children, Michael C. Nelson, Jr. & wife Remetia; son, My'Chael Nelson; daughter, My'Iecia Nelson; 11 grandchildren and very special cousin & friend Ronnie Traylor. His sister Cecelia Ayers; brothers, Perry Traylor & wife Earlene, Jason Traylor & wife Nina, Ray Traylor & wife Bobbie; sister & brother-in- love, Lynda & Jim Gervas; step-children, Melissa Luening Hoener & husband Brian, Brian Duclos & wife Tracy, ex-wives, Barbara Mankin & Michelle Nolen; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of family & friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Keefer and the caring staff at Mercy Cancer Care and Southwest Cancer Care Associates. Drs. Robert Reynolds, Wisenburg, Prabhu, Jeff Sabine and Hospice of Okla. County. Michael never met a stranger and this legacy is the inspiration he gave to all of us. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on August 22nd at Mercer-Adams Funeral Chapel, with graveside services at 10:00 A.M. on August 23rd at Memorial Park Cemetery.
