She graduated as Chieftain Princess from Capitol Hill High School in 1958. She was working a booth at the State Fair when she met her future husband and they were married shortly thereafter. Nancy led an extraordinary life and provided all three of her children and their spouses with unconditional love and support. The one thing that was central in Nancy's life was her sense of humor. She passed that gift onto her children. Her joy and light of her life in her final years was her grandson, Noah, who affectionately called her 'Gans'. Her laughter was infectious and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Nancy is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Beatrice Childers, and her sister, Billie Jean Childers. Nancy is survived in life by her father; Sidney Paul Childers of Oklahoma City, two sisters; Martha Maylene Keester of Oklahoma City and Doris Darlene Wistinhausen of Santa Fe, TX, and one brother; Gerald Paul Childers of Edmond, one son; Raymond Paul Newman of Albuquerque, New Mexico, two daughters; Patti Newman Mayorga and Pamela Newman Peck, both of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by one daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law, Barbara Newman, Rick Mayorga and Jeff Peck. Nancy was blessed with one grandchild, Noah Newman Peck and W. Ray Newman, lifetime friend and former husband. Services will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, 14317 N. Council Road in Oklahoma City. The graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. The family will host a luncheon in the home of Nancy Newman following the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Oklahoma County. They provided Nancy and her family with invaluable service and great compassion during this difficult time. VONDEL L.
