All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Oklahoma Veteran's Cemetery--OKC OK Published April 11, 2007 Muskogee Phoenix Dr. William Ross Nixon 1943 - 2007 Dr. William Ross Nixon born July 4, 1943, retired Commander of the 2- 180th Infantry, U.S. Army National Guard and school administrator, passed away after several months of illness on April 9, 2007. Dr. Nixon received his BS from Oklahoma Panhandle A&M College, Masters degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and earned his Doctorate from Oklahoma University. While serving in the U.S. Army National Guard, he attended and graduated from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, PA. After teaching at Riverside Indian School, he served as Superintendent of schools for the Anadarko, Healdton, Pauls Valley, Gore, Konawa and Red Oak school districts. Upon retirement he and his wife, Vicki, moved to Norman to enjoy OU athletics and fine arts events. Dr. Nixon enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his culinary expertise. His many hobbies included gardening, and he recently completed coursework in the Oklahoma Master Gardeners Program. Dr. Nixon was preceded in death by his parents, David Hughes Nixon and Francis Louise Nixon Yancey. He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; daughter and son-in-law, Sha Ron and Dennis Martin; step-daughters, Jill, Bethany and Chelsea Dotson; four grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, David and Jo Ann Nixon; step-sister, Nelda Ruth Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
