Frances, or Frannie to many, was born on February 27, 1920 in Durwood, OK, to Rosia Bell Williams and Clovis A. Hughey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Paul Murphy O'Bar and her son Clovis Constantine O'Bar. She is survived by her son Robert T. O'Bar and wife Neva Marie Murdock of Edmond, stepson Dr. Paul R. O'Bar and wife Peg of Charlotte, N.C., brother Clyde Hughey and wife Lois of OKC and sister Jo Ann Cox and husband Charley of Shawnee; four granddaughters: Pam Rosencutter of Jenks, OK, Francesca O'Bar of Corpus Christi, TX, Barbara Jane Gray of Broken Arrow, OK and Erika O'Bar of OKC; and four great grandsons. Frannie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. She had been an active member of the state Democratic Party. She also served in the South OKC Democratic women's club; state and county Democratic Party; Federation of Democratic Women; Eastern Star Alverson Chapter #410; Order of White Shrine of JerusalemTulsa White Shrine #8; and Order of the Amaranth Will Clark Court #7. Frannie was a past president of the Oklahoma Dental Assistants Association and was a past recipient of the Bob Kerr State Democrat of the Year Award. She also served over ten years on the Board of Directors for HOPE Community Services, Inc. Frannie always enjoyed being called a Yellow Dog Democrat and worked in many campaigns for all sorts of Democratic candidates over the years. Her service to the Democratic party was always for the benefit of the party and those who served for the good of others. As her activities outside her home decreased, she could always be depended upon to call and gather votes for candidates and/or fold and stuff envelopes. Frannie was always a willing worker and became an active voice to her representatives as to the issue of the day. As a fan of C-SPAN, she kept up on the latest political events and would entertain you with her opinions of those events if you visited with her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and any Democrat running for election. Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at Eisenhour Chapel on S.E. 29th Street and burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. The family extends their gratitude to all the family, friends, and Lion Hospice staff that provided Frannie with much loving comfort and care.
