O'Brien, Robert Donald (Bob)

Robert Donald (Bob) O'Brien (82) Aug. 5, 1920 - April 26, 2003. Bob 
O'Brien, son of John Thomas & Mary Cecilia O'Brien, brother of Joan 
Earl of Bremerton, WA and brother of Al O'Brien of LaGrange Park, IL. 
Preceded in death by brothers Jack & James (Bucky) O'Brien and twin 
sister Rosemary Post. Bob graduated from Lyons Township High School 
in 1938, LaGrange, IL and attended the University of Illinois for two 
years before enlisting in the United States Coast Guard spending four 
years in the service. After the service Bob began working for the 
Western Electric Company first in the Hawthorne Plant in Cicero, IL 
then transferring to OKC, OK in 1957. Bob retired from Western 
Electric in 1980 after 34 years of service. Bob was an avid golfer 
for most of his life scoring 6 hole-in-ones. After retirement he 
could be found at Lake Hefner Golf Course where he worked as a 
volunteer marshal then enjoying the game of golf he so loved, Bob & 
Anne Gural O'Brien would have been married for 54 years in June of 
2003. The O'Brien family have been members of St. Charles Borromeo 
Catholic Church since moving to Oklahoma in 1957. Bob was always 
involved with his family from coaching athletic teams to pulling them 
on water skis while living at Ski Island Lake. He encouraged his 
children, Jack & Deidre to bring as many friends from Putnam City 
High School out to their house any time, but especially during the 
summer for water activities on the lake. Bob is survived by his 
lovely wife of 53 years, Anne; son, John Thomas (Jack) O'Brien & his 
wife Nancy; 2 grandsons, BJ & Danny of Maiden, NC; his daughter, 
Deidre Lee Chisholm & her husband Terry of Arlington, VA; brother Al 
O'Brien of LaGrange, IL & sister Joan Earl of Bremerton, WA. 
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 29, 2003 from 7 P.M. to 9 
P.M. At Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuaries on North MacArthur. Funeral 
Services will be held 10 A.M. on Wednesday April 30, 2003 at Church 
of the Epiphany of the Lord. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be sent 
to Mission Hospice, LLC 7301 N. Broadway Ste #210 OKC, OK 73116 or 
Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 N.E. 13th, OKC, OK 73104.
