Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. David Brack, of Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church, officiating. Mr. Oliphint was born in Oklahoma City on Feb. 22, 1929. He was the third child and only son of Varner Hulet and Gladys Barton Oliphint. They moved to Amarillo in 1946, where he spent most of his life. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. He married Cleo Anderson in 1980. He spent 31 years at Pantex. He was an involved father of five children as a Little League coach and Boy Scout leader. His exceptional work ethic guaranteed that his family seldom wanted for anything. God blessed those around him for giving them such an exceptional husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mae Aylesworth. Survivors include his wife; his former wife, Pat Oliphint of Amarillo; a sister, Jerry Askins of Amarillo; four sons, Steve Oliphint of Amarillo, Scott Oliphint and wife, Peggy, of Philadelphia, Kevin Oliphint and wife, Jana, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Kyle Oliphint and wife, Lizzie, of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Erin McNutt and husband, Barry, of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Jacque Avila and husband, Don, of Hayesville, Kan.; a stepson, Rob Anderson of Arlington, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice Olivia's Angels.
