All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Orr, Kay We wish to note the passing of an extraordinary woman. Kay Orr was born in Frederick, OK on April 13, 1921. She spent most of her life here, New England, Europe, and Africa, where she studied art and interior design. She taught both subjects at OCCE and was a former faculty member at the Oklahoma Museum of Art. She began painting at age 16. She received an ASID from the Chicago School of Interior Design and was a designer in the OKC area for more than 30 years. She attended OU and later taught art and interior design there. Her work has been exhibited in Europe, North Africa, and throughout the US in galleries and private collections. Kay was married to the late Robert Orr and has two sons: Bobby Orr and wife, Karen and daughters, Shayna and Alex; Basil Rogers and wife and their children, Tammy and Norman; sister, Janan Tudisco; brother, Dan Savage; and other family, friends, and students, too numerous to count. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Erma L. Graniero, Georgia V. Bailey and Dalton W. "Doc" Savage. Her personal statement of art: "Good paintings contain not only good design and all other painterly qualities, but the sharpness of insight to capture a fleeting moment of intensity and mystery. These things pique the curiosity of the viewer and allows him to become involved with a piece of art. My paintings are an emotional reaction to my surroundings. I may be deeply moved by a color or shape in nature, a leaning figure or the track of an animal in wet sand. I thrill at the strength of an elephant, the piercing eyes of a big cat in Kenya, or the arrows shooting from the sun on a hot summer day. I hope the joy I have when painting is shared with all who view it. I believe I"ve painted the world." Our world is more colorful and vibrant for having had her in it. Special thanks to Greg Story, Sonny Goldson, Ruth Kelso, Jack Hill and Kim Kelso for all their help and support during this time. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel.
