Pope of Oklahoma City passed away November 27, 2002. She was born December 1, 1925 to Tommy and Dura Loan of Garner, Texas. Lula was one of 4 daughters and is survived by two sisters, Mary L. Blankenship of Weatherford, Texas and Jean Davis of Waynesboro, PA. Lou graduated from Garner High School and attended Weatherford Junior College in Weatherford, Texas. In 1947 she joined the Civil Service and was sent to Guam where she met her husband Donald who was with the U.S. Army on that Pacific Island. They were married on December 31, 1949 and she spent the next 23 years traveling with her family to many different military and civilian locations with Donald and children. In 1969 Donald retired from the service and they subsequently moved to Oklahoma in 1976. She was an avid stained glass enthusiast and enjoyed cooking and gardening but her biggest joy was her children. She is survived by her husband, Donald, daughter, Linda Bartok of Seaford, VA, son, Thomas Pope of Gilbert, AZ. Grandchildren include Christopher and Lauren Bartok, Alexander Pope of Overland Park, KS and mother Debbie Pope, twins Thomas Hunter and Haley Nicole Pope and many nieces and nephews. Two sons, Donald Jr. and Robert Charles preceded her in death. Services will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 30, at 10:00 A.M. She is at rest in Chapel Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens on N.W. Highway. Online tributes may be sent to www.mem.com.
