He was born on February 18, 1926 in Niles, OK. He attended public schools in Oklahoma and Texas, but his formal education was cut short at the young age of 15 to begin work in the oil fields of Oklahoma. He worked with Sohio Oil Co. for over 41 years, retiring at the age of 59 in 1985. He worked and raised his family in the Deer Creek community for over 20 years before moving to Edmond. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and one sister, Naomi Postman. He is survived by his wife, Verna Mae of the home, daughter and son-in law Gloria and Ronald Bateman of Brookshire, TX, daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and John Bowman of Edmond, grandsons Shawn Bowman, Edmond, Scott Bowman, Lubbock, TX and one granddaughter, Michelle Noel of Houston, TX. He is survived also by 3 brothers Paul Postman, St. Louis, OK, Ward Postman of Mississippi, and Don Postman of Mustang. He is survived by 2 sisters, Norma Dean Williams of New Iberia, Louisiana and Lahoma Boschen of Edmond. Bill leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services will be held on Dec. 31, 2002 at 2:00 pm in the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Whisler Cemetery under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond.
