He was 98. Purvis was born Dec. 30, 1905, in Waterloo, Okla., to Will and Olive Dale Purvis. He married Ruby Pearson in Reno, Nev., on July 3, 1965. He lived in Coquille from 1949 until 1975, when he moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. He returned to Oregon and settled in this area in 1985. He attended schools in Oklahoma City. He worked as a truck driver in the wood products industry for 30 years before retiring. He was a lifetime member and past president of an Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening and bowling. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Lynn of Fremont, Calif., Bob of Wilsonville, and Don of Vancouver, Wash.; two stepsons, Ivan Pearson of Eugene and Wayne Pearson of Myrtle Point; 13 grandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren; and many great-great-grand- children. No service is planned.
