Sill Nat'l Cemetery--Elgin OK Powers, Arthur Dennis Arthur Dennis Powers was born on March 20, 1920 to James and Frances Powers in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Art enlisted in the Army in 1937 and trained as a pilot, flying the RAF Spitfire, the RAF twin engine bomber and the P-38 during the invasion of Europe. For his service during WWII, Art received the Order of the British Empire, Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal, among others. During his 31 years with the Air Force, Art earned Bachelors and Masters degrees and attained the rank of colonel. After retirement Art and his wife Wilda enjoyed traveling, including a mountain trek in Nepal and a wildlife safari in Kenya. Art is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Wilda (Watts), stepdaughter, Jan Duiker, stepson, Matt Duiker and his wife Shevaun, and three grandchildren: Ann, Brenna and Chris. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 24th at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 25th, 11:00 a.m. at Ft. Sill Nat'l Cemetery.
