All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Parker, Mary Patricia (Maripat) Mary Patricia (Maripat) Parker was born April 26, 1935 in Chicago, IL, to Bob and Peggy Day. Maripat grew up in St. Angela's Parish attending St. Angela's grammar school and Trinity High School, River Forest. She received her BA from Mundelein College in 1957. She then taught at Jenner grammar school in Chicago and at the RAFSchulthorpe, UK, where she met James Parker and they were married on April 6, 1963. After assignments in Germany, Spain, and other locations with the military, the family settled in OKC in 1968. She taught school at St. Charles Borromeo, Christ the King, and Rosary as well as OKC public schools. Maripat loved traveling and visited over 30 countries. Most recently, she and her sister Eileen traveled to China, Russia, Ireland, Italy, and Africa. She held firm beliefs regarding right-to-life activities. She enjoyed a very close relationship with her children and grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and was very active in her parish and community. Maripat regularly opened her home to foreign language students from around the world. She is survived by her husband Jim, of the home; sons Jim Jr. of El Reno, Timothy and wife Donna of OKC, David and wife Nita of Phoenix, AZ, Matthew of San Antonio, TX, and Gregory of Denver, CO; daughter Peggy Anderies and husband Marty of Phoenix, AZ; brother Robert Day and wife Pat of Lake Geneva, WI; sister Eileen Galvin and husband Ed of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Chris, Brittany, Anthony, Michael, and Megan Parker of El Reno, Hailey and Courtney Parker of OKC, Madelaine Parker of San Antonio, TX, and Barrett and Ausette Anderies of Phoenix, AZ; nieces Peggy, Eileen, Cathy, JoAnn, Tracy, Maripat, and Lisa; and nephew Jimmy. In lieu of flowers, donations to ALS research and patient care are being accepted in Maripat's name to: ALS Division, Muscular Dystrophy Association, ATTN: Planned Giving, 3300 E. Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718-3299, or Mercy Hospice. The family would also like to express their sincere thanks to Mercy Hospice and Home Health Care. A wake in Maripat's memory will be held Friday, Aug. 30 at 7pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. The funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 31 at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
