Porter, 90, of Rancho Mirage and Lake Forest, Ill., died June 4, 2006, in Rancho Mirage from complications of a stroke. He was born April 12, 1916, to Dwight and Gertrude Johnson Porter in Oklahoma City. He married Adele Ritchie on Oct. 6, 1942, in Omaha, Neb. He was a U.S. ambassador in foreign service for several years, senior vice president for governmental affairs with Westinghouse and served in the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945, attaining the rank of captain. He is survived by three daughters, Ellen Porter Honnet of Boston, Joan Porter MacIver of Cambridge, England, and Barbara Porter of Amman, Jordan; three sons, Dwight Porter of St. Paul, Minn., James Porter of Takoma, Md., and Ritchie Porter of Silver Spring, Md.; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adele Porter. Services will be held in Washington, D.C.
