Born on March 6, 1951, in Edmond, Oklahoma. She attended Central State University of Oklahoma, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in 1973. Her music career spanned her entire life. Barbara was a music educator, vocalist, pianist extraordinaire, composer, lyricist, child advocate, friend and an inspiration to thousands. Her career also included professional music theater, lead vocalist for a national touring Jazz group. As an entertainer, she performed in Paris, France and Vienna, Austria. Music Education was her first love and included Thomas J. Pappas School for the Homeless Children, Central High School of Phoenix and Browning Public School of the Blackfeet Indian Nation. She leaves behind her loving parents, Harold & Emma Lou Provine of Mustang; sister, Beverly Thomas; and brother, Bryan Provine. Published in the Oklahoman on 12/15/2002.
