All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Reid, Veleta VELETA, age 81, of Edmond, OK, went to be with her Lord on September 22, 2002. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Veleta was born in Perryville, AR, to Oscar and Hazel Shelton. She married Kempner Cole, and had two sons, Roger and Joe Cole. Veleta survived her first husband, Kempner Cole. She married Albert Reid, in 1951, and moved to Midwest City. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Midwest City, worked for The Oklahoma Journal Newspaper in Midwest City, and was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Veleta moved to Edmond in 1994 and was active in Henderson Hills Baptist Church. After the death of Albert Reid, she moved to the Oklahoma Christian Apartment Center, Veleta had a large family she loved and supported. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her first husband, Kempner Cole in 1940, her second husband, Albert Reid in 1994, and her brother, Oscar Shelton. Veleta is survived by two sons and their wives, Roger and B. Ann Cole and Joe and Charlene Cole, both of Edmond; seven grandchildren, Kemp Cole, Kandy Parsons, Stacy McDaniel, Marcy Kenney, Steve Cole, Kari Cole, all of Edmond, and Kristi Cook of Las Vegas, NV; seventeen great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Gardyne of Oklahoma City; one brother, John Shelton and his wife, Eva of McKinney, TX; and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at 10:00 am, Henderson Hills Baptist Church, Edmond, OK, with interment Arlington Cemetery.
