Truett Hospital, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage during the Sunday evening worship service at her beloved First Baptist Church of Dallas. She was born May 17, 1924, in Oklahoma City, to Thomas Hadley Marshall and Rachel Winona (Lackey) Marshall. Marjorie graduated from University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Arts in Music in 1945. She subsequently earned a Masters in Elementary Education from Texas Tech in 1967. Marjorie was a longtime educator and taught generations of elementary school students in Lubbock, San Antonio and Dallas. Most recently she taught at William Lipscomb Elementary School in Dallas. After retirement from DISD, she returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher within the District. At First Baptist, Dallas, she was a faithful member of Mrs. Betty Criswell's Sunday School Class and taught children in the AWANA's Program. Marjorie was a lifelong Christian. She was without fear of death because Jesus Christ's Resurrection provides victory over the grave for all those who trust in Him. She was preceded in death in 1997 by Marvin Clifton Reed her devoted husband of 54 years and a longtime Southwestern Bell and AT&T executive. She is survived by son Colonel (US Army, Retired) Marshall and wife Penny, of Steilacoom, Washington; son Dr. (Colonel, US Air Force) Brian, wife Lee and their daughter Ann of San Antonio; son Dr. Tom Reed (Ph.D.) a Southern Baptist Missionary in Africa. She was blessed by an extraordinary extended family. Surviving: niece Marjorie McCurtain of Colorado, nephew Ed McCurtain of California (whom we thank for bringing Tom back from Africa ... twice) and niece Marsha Rumsey of Montana; cousins Noel Chapin of Dallas, Boyd Chapin of Oklahoma, John Chapin of Missouri, Howard Chapin of California; sister-in-law, Jaunice Curtis of Corvalis, Oregon, nephew Gary Curtis of Massachusetts, Denise Curtis of Corvalis and Robert Curtis of Washington. The family is deeply grateful for the remarkable friendship and support of cousins Carol Bocell, Teri Chapin and Julie Ellis of Dallas. Visitation will be Saturday, 10 August, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, Dallas, TX. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday 11 August at 2:00 PM at Embree Hall, First Baptist Church of Dallas. Graveside services will be Monday 12 August, 10:00 AM, Memorial Park Cemetery, OKC, OK.
