He was born June 3, 1913 near Okemah, OK to Oklahoma pioneers, James Andrew Reed and Pauline Lena Phillips Reed. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mary Virginia Richards, in December of 2002. He is survived by his son Jerry and wife Nell of Midwest City, daughter Sharon Johnson and husband Earnest of Poteau, daughter Karen June Henderson of Shawnee, sister Polly Williams of Tulsa, and grandchildren, Sheri Frosig, Terri Wells, Kendall, Kevin, and Kyson Johnson, Elaina Jones, Renee Wortham, Brooke Oliver, and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Lena Reed, daughter Kaye Arlyce Reed, brothers, Carl, Leon, Raymond, and sisters Mildred Shaw, Lorene Rose, and Marie Condreay. Mr. Reed worked for BP AMOCO for 43 years and retired at the age of 65 and moved to Lake Eufaula where he and his wife lived for 22 years until moving to Midwest City in 1998. While working for BP AMOCO, they lived in Shawnee and later in Cushing. He and his wife were members of the Baptist Church and last participated actively at Brush Hill Baptist Church near Eufaula, Oklahoma. Minister Earnest Johnson will conduct the services which will be Tuesday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Resthaven Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, Oklahoma with interment at Resthaven Cemetery following the service.
