She was born January 22, 1916 in Haskell, OK to Henry Thomas Richards and Winifred Loraine Brown Richards. She was known to her brothers and sisters by her childhood nickname of Cecil. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Arless Reed; brother: Tom Richards and wife, Vinita; sister-in-law: Ida Richards; son: Jerry, and wife Nell of Midwest City; daughter: Sharon, and husband Earnest of Poteau; daughter: Karen June Henderson of Shawnee; grandchildren: Sheri Frosig, Terri Wells, Kendall, Kevin, and Kyson Johnson, Elaina Jones, Renee Wortham, and Brooke Oliver; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Kaye Arlyce Reed; brothers: James Richards, and Byron Bruce Richards; and sisters: Opie Grantham, Beulah Hancock, Eula Cowan, and Lois Moore. Virginia was devoted to her family and loved to cook for them and anyone who came to visit. In 1998 she and her husband moved from Lake Eufaula, where they lived next door to their son Jerry's vacation home for 20 years, to Midwest City where they also lived next door to Jerry and his wife Nell. They lived in Shawnee while their children were growing up, and later in Cushing, before moving to Lake Eufaula. Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday, at Midwest Blvd. Christian Church with interment at Resthaven Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. in Shawnee, OK.
