Donald Riggan Donald Riggan, 64, of Amarillo died Sunday, March 28, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Riggan was born in Clinton, Okla., on March 17, 1940, to Alene and Homer Riggan. He graduated from Del City High School in Del City, Okla., in 1957, where he was an all-state athlete and a member of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Riggan graduated from East Central University in Ada, Okla., with his bachelor's degree in 1963 and received his master's in education from WTSU in 1973. After a brief stint of coaching basketball in New Mexico, he took a position as head varsity basketball coach and teacher at Amarillo High School from 1970 to 1974. In 1975, he became an agent with State Farm Insurance, where he remained until his retirement in 2002. Mr. Riggan was a member of Harley Owners Group "HOG" Amarillo Chapter, where he was very active. He loved his family and his many friends. He was quick to lend a hand and tell a joke. He loved both watching and participating. He loved LIFE. Survivors include his wife, Tracey; three sons, Don Riggan Jr., Dayle Riggan and Matt Harmel, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Joanna Harmel of Amarillo; and a granddaughter, Riley Grace Riggan. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
