He was born March 31, 1924, to Lewis and Bernice Speck in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was a member of the 45 Infantry Division and a combat veteran of World War II and Korea. He graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1950. A long-time resident of Del City, he moved to the Newberry Creek area of Lake Texoma in early 1986 following the death of his wife, Eula, in October 1985. He was an avid OU sports fan. He moved to Yukon in 2001 and had resided at The Lakes Alzheimers unit since September 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Dee (Dearlyne) SpeckRoss, his beloved only grandchild, Kelly Ann Ross, his sisters Virginia Brown, Betty Crawford, and many extended family members. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Earl Speck, and his parents. Graveside services will be held at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N. Midwest Blvd., at 2:00 PM on Monday, Aug. 15, 2005. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The University of Oklahoma Foundation or Sooner Golden Retriever Rescue, P.O. Box 57139, Oklahoma City, OK 73159. His daughter and granddaughter would like to thank The Lakes Alzheimers unit caregivers for their kindnesses and care during his residence.
