All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Speegle, Norma June Lynch Our beloved Norma June Lynch Speegle passed on to a far better place December 23, 2002. Norma will be missed by so many who had the privilege of knowing and working with her over the years. Norma's contributions to the Oklahoma City community included many leadership roles in a host of civic, charitable, and professional organizations. Memorial Services for Norma will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at the Northwest Baptist Church, located at 3030 NW 23rd St. in Oklahoma City. Memorial flowers may be sent to Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 13125 N. MacArthur, Oklahoma City. Memorial donations may be contributed to the Norma Speegle Memorial Fund, c/o Northwest Baptist Church, 3030 NW 23rd St, Oklahoma City 73107, designated for the care and nurturing of the homeless and elderly, a cause so close to the enormous heart and beautiful spirit of Norma. Norma was born on June 20, 1927, to her adoring parents Frank and Myrtle Lynch. She grew up in Capitol Hill, graduating from Capitol Hill High School in 1946. Norma went on to attend Oklahoma University, studying business law. She married George Wayne Speegle, who passed away in 1997. She is survived by her three children, George Wayne Speegle, Jr. ('Chip'), Deborah Louise Speegle, and Christopher Franklin Speegle, as well as Chip's wife Cindy and their two children, Adam and Taylor. Norma's Uncle, Harry Lynch, currently resides in Woodward, OK. Norma also is survived by the extended immediate families of her husband Wayne Speegle-CB Speegle and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Cliff Speegle's wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; and Pauline Lauderdale, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The families of Bob and Frances Turner-the Ken and Teta Turner family and the Jim and Mary Turner family-also were very precious to Norma's heart. Throughout her robust life Norma contributed to her community in so many roles. During her children's education she assumed numerous leadership positions in Oklahoma PTA organizations, serving on the Oklahoma State PTA Board, serving two years as the Putnam City School District PTA Council President, as well as the President of her children's various school PTA organizations - Lafayette Elementary in Capitol Hill, Windsor Hills Elementary, PC Central Jr. High, and Putnam City High School. She was active in governmental affairs, supporting South Oklahoma City bond drive efforts and state PTA legislative agendas. Her community involvement included President of the Capitol Hill Lioness Club, leadership positions in the OKC Ladies Music Club, co-sponsorship of the OKC Junior Music Club, the Oklahoma Hospitality Club Board, and the Christian Women's Club. Norma served as President of the Gamma Phi Beta Alumni organization, chairing the greater OKC Panhellenic Scholarship Fund committee. Quite inspiring was Norma's later-in-life pursuit of a career in real estate at age 60. Working with major real estate brokers in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area over the years (including Keller Williams Realty, Merrill Lynch, and Prudential Properties), Norma was nominated by her peers for 'Realtor of the Year' in 1990 and was voted 'Most Cooperative Realtor' by her colleagues in 1999 in recognition of her displaying the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. Most recently this year, Norma was honored to be elected to the Board of the OKC Metropolitan Association of Realtors, a position to which she was sworn in a beautiful ceremony earlier this month at the Oklahoma City Civic Center. Working at Keller Williams Realty Northwest, Norma pursued her real estate business for the past three years in partnership with her, devoted and loving daughter Deborah-'The Speegle Team.' At Keller Williams, Norma assumed active management roles, serving many years on the firm's ALC governing Board. Norma's career in real estate provided her yet another forum in which she could help those in need, particularly the elderly who were transitioning to senior retirement communities. As in so many of her life pursuits, real estate was not just a professional career to Norma, but was an opportunity for outreach and faith ministry. Norma's spiritual life has been supported and inspired by the ministry at Northwest Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Craig Etheredge. This diverse congregation of wonderful and loving people meant so much in Norma's life and was one to which she was deeply de voted, particularly the Church's ministry to and care of the homeless and the elderly. Memorial donations to support and expand this Northwest Baptist Church ministry may be contributed to the Norma Speegle Memorial Fund, c/o Northwest Baptist Church, 3030 NW 23rd St., Oklahoma City 73107, as a continuing legacy of Norma's unwavering love and compassion for others in all walks of life. God bless this remarkable and inspiring woman. VONDEL L. SMITH & SON MORTUARY 13125 N.
