The family will receive guests at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home on Monday, August 5 from 6-8 P.M. Services and burial will be in Mattoon, IL. Published in the Oklahoman on 8/5/2002. ========= Spoon, Leo E. Leo E. Spoon was born September 19, 1920 in Mattoon, IL. His parents were Joe and Eva Spoon. He ended his walk here on earth August 3, 2002. Leo was one of 13 children. He attended Mattoon High School, Mattoon, IL. He married Lois E. Ariens of Toledo, IL on April 25, 1947. Leo was given an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy during World War II. Leo worked as a homebuilder with his father and brothers in Mattoon, IL prior to his move to Evansville, IN in June of 1951, where he continued home building for 10 years. Leo and his wife then moved to Oklahoma City, OK in June of 1961 where he worked for Everett Dole Home Builders as a Trim Foreman in carpentry. Leo loved bowling, golf, traveling, hunting, square dancing and attending horse and dog shows. He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and all his brothers and sisters. Leo is survived by his wife, Lois E. Spoon; nieces & nephews, many great nieces & nephews; several great great nieces & nephews. Services and burial in Resthaven Memorial Gardens will be held in Mattoon, IL under the direction of Schilling Funeral Home, Mattoon, IL.
