All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Tuttle Times 10 March 2004 STEVE "SPARKY" SPARKS Steve "Sparky" Sparks, 50, of Tuttle passed away Monday, March 8, 2004 at Integris Southwest in Oklahoma City. He was born on Nov. 9, 1953, in Oklahoma City. He was the youngest child of five children born to Joe Alfred Sparks and Gladys Opal Fryrear Sparks. Steve grew up in Tuttle and graduated from Tuttle High School in 1972. While in school he played football and worked for Verle Barnes on his farm. In 1975, he began working for Continental Airlines in Oklahoma City and in 1993, he was forced to retire due to a back injury. Steve married Mary Conway, a young lady from Lexington, on April 20, 1979 and together they raised two children. Steve made many friends while living and working in Tuttle. For nearly 10 years he co-owned and operated "Sparks Texaco" with his father and brother. He was a Tuttle volunteer fireman for nearly 20 years, a member of the Tuttle Masonic Lodge and a member of the Tuttle First Baptist Church. While his children were growing up they enjoyed camping, fishing and going to the lake. Throughout his life he loved being outdoors, spending time with his family and visiting with his friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe "Sparky" Sparks; a baby sister, Shirley Sparks; one brother-in-law, Duane Black; one niece, Jan Black; and one great nephew, Cameron Link. Survivors include his mother, Gladys Sparks of Tuttle; his former wife, Mary Sparks of Tuttle; one son, Tyler Sparks of Tuttle; one daughter, Elisa Sparks of Tuttle; one brother, Jerry Sparks and wife Pam of Kingston, Okla.; two sisters, Jeanette Haywood and husband Tom of Tuttle and Bettie Black of Tuttle; seven nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews; and many other loving relatives and friends Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Tuttle. Officiating will be Rev. Todd Littleton. Pallbearers will be Brad and Mark Hart, Corey Black, Shawn Haywood, Terry Kennedy and Aaron Link. Honorary bearers will be all of Steve's many friends. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle.
