All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Sparkman, Dorothy Grace (Erbin) Dorothy Grace (Erbin) Sparkman, 76, of Harrah died December 31, 2002 at home, after a long illness. She was born June 29, 1926, in Harrah, Oklahoma, the daughter of John A. Sr. and Bonnie (Baxter) Erbin. Dorothy attended 12 years of school in the Harrah district, graduating in 1944. After graduation from Harrah High School she attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma. She started her first job on October 24, 1949, with Commercial Credit Corporation where she remained in their employ until she took medical leave on October 24, 2002. On June 9, 1950, she entered married bliss with Bill J. Sparkman, her true love and best friend, and was a member of Harrah United Methodist Church, where she attended the Bethlehem Sunday School Class and taught 2nd and 3rd grade Sunday School Class. She served faithfully and for many years for the Harrah United Methodist Women, Harrah Historical Society, Harrah School Alumni Association, held many offices in McLoud Chapter No. 193, Order of the Eastern Star (including over 20 years as Secretary), and Shawnee Past Matrons Club. She also worked on the Memory Lane Cemetery Association Board for 30 years, holding office of Secretary/Treasurer. Dorothy influenced many young people by providing guidance and support, as well as inspiring all those around her. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Bill Sparkman of the home, a brother and sister-in-law, John A. Jr. and Corene Erbin, Harrah, OK; a nephew, Donald W. Erbin, his wife, Karen and their two sons, Jason W. and Brian C.; eight extra special cousins, their spouses and children; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great-great nephew, as well as two God children; and their faithful companion, Annie, the Dachshund. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2003, at Harrah United Methodist Church, Harrah, OK, with Rev. John Gober officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Oklahoma County, Women's Cancer Fund of OKC or Harrah United Methodist Church. Arrangements under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Services, Harrah, OK.
