All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Sheppard, Dorothy Sue Dorothy Sue Sheppard, age 66 of Harrah, OK passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2002 in Chandler, AZ after a long illness with breast cancer. She was the faithful and loving wife of Kenneth D. Sheppard. She was born on September 16, 1936 in Calvin, OK, the youngest of six children of Andrew and Velma Collins. Her mother and grandparents traveled by covered wagon to Oklahoma in 1907 and settled in southeastern Oklahoma. She graduated from Calvin High School in 1955. She married Kenneth on December 20, 1954. During the Korean War, Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy and she worked at the US Naval Air Station in Alameda, CA to be near him when he returned for liberty. After the war, they returned to their native Oklahoma to lovingly raise a family of four children. They lived in Midwest City for a few years before settling in Harrah. She retired from the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in 1997. She enjoyed cooking and the satisfaction of pleasing one's taste whether a newfound friend, long time acquaintance or family member. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Sooner Road Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Velma Collins of Calvin; her brother, Elroy and her sister Elva Beck of Andrews. TX. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; three brothers, Elmo Collins of Calvin, Bill Collins of Calvin, and Elmer Collins of Norman; two sons, Wade Sheppard of Edmond and Kenny Sheppard of Del Mar, CA; two daughters, Tara Turman of Harrah and Jennifer Rowe of Choctaw; as well as two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, fourteen grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. She was affectionately known as "MeMe" to her grandchildren who were a source of great pride and joy to her. Services will be held at Choctaw Church of Christ on Tues., December 3, 2002 at 2:00 pm with interment at Memory Lane in Harrah.
