Marvin J., passed away August 16, 2002 from lung cancer. He was born July 12, 1918 to Richard Howard and Jessie Corneia (Haynie) Stiles in Post, TX and moved to Lubbock, TX where he grew up and attended high school. Shortly after graduating he joined the Army in 1940 and was stationed in China and India until his honorable discharge in 1945. In 1946 Marvin went to work for Civil Service in Lubbock, TX and transferred to Tinker AFB in 1947 and lived in Midwest City, OK. From 1951 to 1961 he transferred to FFA where he was an Air Traffic Controller at Will Rogers Airport. Then in 1961 he transferred back to Tinker AFB traveling all over the United States installing navigation and communication equipment until his retirement in 1971. He moved to South Okla. City in 1966 and resided there until he passed away. He was a member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church and a 32 degree Mason within Midwest City Lodge and Guthrie Consistory. His hobbies included flying, fishing, playing the organ, recording CD's and tapes and sending e-mail on the computer. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Stiles (36 years) of the home; daughter Judy Paletz and husband Lou of Knoxville, TN; two sons, Richard Stiles and wife Sandi of Choctaw, OK and Bill Engle and wife Phyllis of south Okla. City; a brother, Lloyd Stiles and wife Fay of Lubbock, TX; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, August 19, 2002 at Southern Hills United Methodist Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
