All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Fair Oaks District Cemetery--Fair Oaks CA Stewart, Jack Kenneth Oct 15, 1923 - Jan 5, 2007 A resident of Sacramento County for over 50 years, Jack K. Stewart passed away on January 5, 2007. Jack was born on October 15, 1923, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Gorda Jackson Stewart and Anna Wells Stewart. He attended Indianola High School in Indianola, Okla. On August 22, 1941, Jack enlisted in the United States Navy. He held the position of radioman while aboard the U.S.S. Mississippi and the U.S.S. Feland. Before his departure from the U.S. Navy in November 1946, Jack met and married the love of his life, Alma Lee Vaughn. They were married on November 11, 1945, in Choate Prairie, Okla. After a brief residency in Oklahoma, Jack and Alma moved to San Francisco, Calif. It was while living in San Francisco that Jack began his 40-year career in the drapery business. Prior to his retirement in 1988 he installed draperies for Lachman Brothers, Breuners, Montgomery Ward and J.C. Penny. Jack also worked at Crosswood Oaks Senior Apartments. During his retirement, Jack began a woodworking hobby and was soon crafting unique and one-of-a-kind writing instruments. During the fall months he and Alma would sell his creations at the High Hill Ranch in Apple Hill. Jack was a member of Cypress Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a 3rd degree Mason and a member of the Harding San Juan Lodge # 579. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mary Patterson and Fred Stewart. Jack is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Alma, his children Glenda (Ron) Senner, Kenneth (Carolyn) Stewart, Jacqueline (Ross) Batchelor, his grandchildren Jason (Marci) Volkman, Heidi (Ted) Barlow, Daniel Stewart, Meredith Stewart, and Wade Batchelor and great-grandchildren Ryan, Dylan, and Hailey Volkman. Jack is also survived by sisters La Verda Hope, Hazel Phillips, and Thelma Rae (Hershell) Cooper, and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 4:00-9:00 PM at LIND BROTHERS MORTUARY, 4221 Manzanita, Carmichael. Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 11:00 AM at Cypress Avenue Baptist Church, 5709 Cypress Ave., Carmichael, Calif. Interment will follow at Fair Oaks District Cemetery.
