All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Slater, Bernice Carrie Bernice Carrie Slater, 84, Oklahoma City, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003, in the Integris Southwest Medical Center, Oklahoma City. She had been living at the Village on the Park. Bernice was born August 24, 1918, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Frank and Lillie (Cobb) Slater. She graduated from the nursing school in Clinton, OK, served as executive director of the Oklahoma State Nurses Association as well as many other offices and was a 1st LT. in the Army Nurse Corp during the Korean Conflict. Bernice had lived in Hobart, Lawton, Hollis, Okmulgee, Tulsa, Durant, Clinton, Denver, Colorado and Oklahoma City. She was an ombudsman for the Good Samaritan Nursing Centers in Hobart. Bernice was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Member of American Nurses Association and AARP. Survivors include one nephew, Carl Hinkle, Rowlett, Texas; two nieces, Ann Funderburk, Greenville, South Carolina, Linda Koeltzow, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews; 1 sister, Mildred L. Slater Hinkle, Rowlett, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herman and Ray; and a sister, Margaret L. Slater Downen; and one nephew, Paul Slater. Graveside services 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2003, Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, Oklahoma, Rev. Ann Wasson officiating. Burial to follow in the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of the Hackney-Gish Funeral Home, Hobart, Oklahoma.
