She spent the majority of her life in Oklahoma City where she married Roger Shilling, her husband of 51 years. Her life was dedicated to her family and especially her children, Gary, Mark, and Kathi; and their loved ones, Zaida, Kay, and Frank. Her grandchildren, Rachel, Jared, and Sean, were another great source of joy and pride. She was known for her creativity, kindness, and generosity, particularly where kids were concerned. She had a special way with children and they were always immediately drawn to her and her warm, gentle manner. She always put the needs of others before her own. Even in failing health, she took time to help individuals and families that were less fortunate. In her final days she expressed a desire to donate her collection of hundreds of teddy bears to children's charities. She was the best mom one could hope for and a joy to her husband, her family, and everyone who met her. Her family wishes to thank Hospice of Oklahoma County and many others for all the loving, extraordinary care they provided for her in her last month. Special thanks to Suzanne, Cathy, Rubye, Carmen, Diane, Anna, Jeanette, Veda, and all the other wonderful caregivers she had the last weeks of her life. Thank you, Uncle Gil, for the spiritual grace we needed in these painful days. We are grateful to have been blessed with such a loving mother, mother-in-law, wife, sister, and grandmother. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Bill Merritt Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
