All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 18 Feb 1998 Lillian Maurine Nisbett Sims Lillian Maurine Nisbett Sims, 85, a former longtime Amarillo resident, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, in Madison, Wis. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Moundville United Methodist Church in Moundville, Ala. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery in Moundville. Mrs. Sims was born in Nez Perce, Idaho. She was raised in Grenville, N.M., and Amarillo, where she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1928. She attended Texas College for Women at Denton for three years. In 1936, she married Harry Otis Sims in Amarillo. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1940 and to Little Rock, Ark., in 1944. While living in Little Rock, she was active in the Parent Teachers Association, serving as president of Franklin Elementary PTA. She also was active in Winfield Methodist Church. In 1954, they returned to Oklahoma City, where she attended First Methodist Church. In the late 1950s, she returned to college, attending Central State College at Edmond, Okla. She graduated in 1960 with a degree in education. She taught for five years at Mayfield Elementary School in Oklahoma City. In 1983, she and her husband moved to Cary, N.C. Mr. Sims died in 1993. After his death, Mrs. Sims lived in Alexandria, Va., Madison and Cary.
