David John Smith

David John Smith, 31, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 14, 1998.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. 
Stan Coffey, pastor, and the Rev. Gorden Benson, associate pastor and 
single adults minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by 
Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mr. Smith was born in Dumas and moved to Amarillo in 1979. In 1986, he 
moved to Oklahoma City and Tulsa. He had been employed as a pharmacy 
technician for 11 years. He volunteered at nursing homes and hospices 
while in Oklahoma. In 1997, he returned to Amarillo and was a member of 
San Jacinto Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Janis Basaldua of Amarillo; a sister, Sheila 
Long of Amarillo; a brother, Chad Smith of Caddo, Okla.; and his 
grandfather, Albert Samuels of Dumas.

The family will be at 1615 S. Harrison St. They request memorials be to 
Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, P.O. Box 950, 
Amarillo, Texas.
