All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Smith, Maxine Roberta Stockton Maxine Roberta Stockton Smith, daughter of D.K. and Helen Stockton, was born March 8, 1917, in Denver Colorado, and died November 28, 2002, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Maxine graduated from Harding Junior High School, Classen High School, and Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She married Preston A. Smith on November 30, 1939. Together they had two children, Cheryl Ann and Preston Allen, Jr. Maxine and her family were active members of Nichols Hills United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Maxine was given a lifetime pin from the United Methodist Women. Maxine belonged to many organizations throughout her life: Alpha Chi Omega sorority, Junior Hospitality, PEO, Nichols Hills Mothers" Club, Oklahoma Study Club, and both mahjong and bridge clubs. She enjoyed traveling, nature, music, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Maxine is predeceased by her husband Preston Smith and is survived by her brother Charles Stockton of Clermont, Florida; her son Preston Allen Smith, Jr., her daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and George Vaughn, and her granddaughter Christy Vaughn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and her grandson Robert Vaughn of Los Angeles, California. Maxine was loved by all and will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 2, 2002, at 2:00 pm at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church.
