Graduated from El Paso High and attended Texas Western College. Married Clifford M. Smith March 21, 1953. They left Texas and moved to Wichita where she worked at Union National Bank until becoming a mother and full time homemaker. She was a member of the Jaycee Janes. Lou Ann was active in her children's lives as a Room Mother, Den Mother, Brownie Troop and Girl Scout Leader. She and Clifford moved to Oklahoma City in 1982 where she kept busy with her embroidery group the "Dirty Dozen", as an active member of the EGA and traveling the world with Clifford. She was a member of West Heights United Methodist Church, Wichita. Survived by husband Clifford M. Smith of Oklahoma City, daughter Linda Smith of Wichita, son Alan Smith and daughter-in-law Samantha Smith of Viola, KS, brother John M. Coughran, Jr. of Manhattan Beach, CA, step brother Charles Combs of Evansville, IN, step grandson Jesse Crawford of Viola, KS and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father John M. Coughran, mother Ruby Coughran and step mother Pauline Coughran. She was a devoted mother and wife. Her bright smile, sunny disposition and words of wisdom will be deeply missed.
