Sander was born March 14, 1920 in Navarre, Ohio to her parents Sadie and Earl Smith. She was married to her husband, Alfred Sander for 61 years. Irma was a Registered nurse and received many honors in her career, she was the President of the Texas Nurse's Association, Nurse of the Year. Irma attended many National and International conferences and worked for many years as a school nurse. She also was a nurse at a WWII plant. Irma completed a Masters in Nutrition. She was very active in the Lutheran Church in El Paso, Texas. Irma was a fabulous cook, seamstress, loving wife, and mother, and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband Alfred Sander of OKC, daughter Teckla Stonecipher of OKC, son J.D. Sander and wife Lottie Nelson & son Brandon Sander of San Diego, CA, granddaughters Sherry Dyckman and Carrie Conti, sisters-in-law Mary Sander and Ruth Smith & brother-in-law Arthur Sander and many nieces and nephews. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday January 9, 2003 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in OKC. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's, Heart, or Diabetes Associations.
