Sill National Cemetery--Elgin OK Schmoldt, Donald Herman Donald Herman Schmoldt passed away at Southwest Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born November 5, 1925 to J.H. & Irene Schmoldt of Oklahoma City. Don was preceded in death by his parents J.H. & Irene, brothers Lt. Colonel Edgar R. Schmoldt, Capt. John Howard Schmoldt, and sister, Irene Fishbeck. Don was the great grandson of the Countess Katherina, of Hamburg, Germany & Herman Schmoldt, a sea captain. He attended Moore Public Schools, where he was active in the FFA winning numerous ribbons for his farm animals. Don worked during the summers as a farm hand and in the oil fields during his high school years. As a high school senior, he had graduated from Moore High School, Class of 1944 and was inducted into the Army Air Corp as a flying cadet, B-25 Mitchell Bomber Pilot trained for B-29, learning to fly B-29's. When the war ended he attended the University of Oklahoma School of Engineering, and Oklahoma A & M (OSU) where he was a member of the ROTC. Don worked at Tinker Field, The First National Bank & Tr. Co., and the City of Oklahoma City as a Park Ranger for 14 years, then, at the Emergency Operating Center as a communicator and a Shelter Management Instructor. He worked for the city for 30 years and retired. Don had also been a surveyor. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie, sons Ray (Isabel) of Manvel, TX, and John (Cari) of Oklahoma City. Daughters Marcia (Rick) Gardner, K. Suzanne (Steve) Clendenin, and Sandy, Oklahoma City. Grandchildren, Julie, Manvel, TX and Sara Schmoldt, Oklahoma City, Alicia and Heather Gardner, Oklahoma City, Krystal Clendenin, Tokyo, Japan and Casey Clendenin, Oklahoma City, Tyler, Aaron and Miranda Schmoldt, all of Oklahoma City. Also, step- granddaughters Delena Gardner, Plano, TX and Bebe Vasquez, San Leon, TX; a Step-great granddaughter, Heaven Hendricks, San Leon, TX, a brother R.E. Schmoldt, and four nieces also survive. Don & Bobbie would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 15. Graveside services will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma 10:00 AM Friday. VONDEL L.
