He courageously fought a battle with leukemia for six years. He was a patient at the City of Hope. He passed peacefully at home with the tranquil sound of nature's rain. A beautiful rainbow and sunset preceded his passing. Gregg was born on Dec. 15, 1967, in Oklahoma City. He was raised in Simi Valley and attended Simi Valley High School, where he created many special friendships. Shortly after high school, Gregg began his loving family. Gregg's pride in life was his beautiful children. He devoted his life to raising his son and daughter. He believed that fatherhood is a journey that a man takes with his heart. Gregg was a wonderful father and a true friend to his kids. Gregg last worked for The Gatekeeper. He enjoyed his work and felt blessed to have worked for such an amazing group of people. He loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed camping, boating, sports, motorcycles and living life to its fullest. He loved watching action TV shows. He was loved by all who knew him; his smile and laughter were very contagious. God has blessed us with Gregg being a part of our lives. He will be missed dearly, but never forgotten. Gregg is survived by his two blessings of life, his children, Jeremy Scott Smith and Alyssa Marie Smith. He is also survived by his loving parents, Kenneth and Patsy Smith; sisters and families, Stacy Smith- Paynter, her husband, Michael, and sons, Zach and Eli, and Whitney Maass, her husband, David, sons, Justin and Connor, and daughter Jamie; as well as a loving and supportive group of extended family and dear friends. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hope Fund for Gregg Smith. Donations may be mailed to Edward Jones in care of John C. A service will be held to honor Gregg's memory at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Rocky Peak Church, 22601 Santa Susana Pass Road, Chatsworth, Calif.
