She was born Jan. 10, 1924 to Flora (Brewer) and Ralph Bourne in Woodward, OK. She was graduated from OU with a degree in journalism, and served as Editor of the university paper, Oklahoma Daily. After a year as Assistant to Stewart Harrel, Director of Public Relations at OU, she joined the women's staff at The Daily Oklahoman and Oklahoma City Times where she later became Women's Editor. She married Wayne B. Snow on Sept. 11, 1948. Martha was an active volunteer in numerous community organizations. She served on the Metro YWCA Board and handled all publicity. She was President of the Nichols Hills Elem. Sch. and John Marshall High Sch. Parent Teacher Associations, and assisted in fund raising for United Way, the Symphony, and Mental Health Associations. She served terms as a Deacon and Deaconess at Crown Heights Christian Church. Employment included work for World Neighbors, handling publicity. During Governor Dewey Bartlett's term she compiled and edited the Vocational Rehabilitation Report and Recommendations. When Friday newspaper was established she was a feature writer and Women's Editor before becoming Field Service Director of the Easter Seal Society, the Okla. Soc. for Crippled Children. She handled all publicity, edited the OSCC Newsletter and coordinated the first Easter Seal Telethon over KTUL in Tulsa, traveling the eastern portion of the state to raise funds and establish a 'Pony Express Ride' by rodeo and round-up clubs to benefit Easter Seals' work with handicapped children. In 1978 she became Director of Public Information for the Oklahoma Bar Assoc., editing the weekly Oklahoma Bar Journal and coordinating the work of many Bar Association Committees, including the Law Day Comm. and the 'Ask A Lawyer' TV program carried over OETA. She retired June 16, 1995 and has since been an active volunteer in her church and a docent at the Cowboy Hall of Fame. She has served on the Bd. of the Okla. County Lawyers Auxiliary and as chaplin. She has twice served as President of Chapter CK PEO. At OU she was named to Phi Beta Kappa and became a member of Women in Communications. During the years she was with the OBA, she was a member of the Public Relations Soc. of America and was Chairman of Communications and Public Relations Section of the National Assoc. of Bar Executives. While she was chairperson of the NABE Law-Related Education Committee she organized the first national conference on Law-Related Education for bar association members across the nation and for NABE members. In 1993 Legal Aid of Western Okla., Legal Services of Eastern Okla., Okla. Indian Legal Services and the OBA Legal Service Comm. presented her with its Pro Bono Publico Award for her long- time assistance in publicizing their efforts toward providing legal assistance. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Wayne B. Snow, by her daughters Barbara Snow Gilbert of OKC and Margaret Snow Benoit of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and by four granddaughters, Stephanie Snow Gilbert, Laura Snow Benoit, Allison Lynne Gilbert and Emily Wyatt Benoit. A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13 at Crown Heights Christian Church, 4020 N. Western. In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts to the Okla.
