He was at home being cared for by his family and Excell Hospice. Jerry was born April 14, 1927 in Burbank, OK to Roy D. and Gertrude Snyder. He graduated from Capitol Hill HS in 1945. He attended Oklahoma A&M at Okmulgee and graduated with a Doctor of Motors Degree. He worked at various places as an auto mechanic until he opened his own garage with a partner Gerald Alley. After they closed the doors to the garage he was employed by Modern Bearing, Churches Chicken, and retired from CMI as a machinist in 1989. Fishing, with the exception of deep sea, was his passion and he spent a lot of time at Lake Eufaula especially below the dam fishing, not necessarily catching. He could sit for hours, not catch a thing and still have a good time. A lifelong musician he never missed a chance to 'pick & grin.' Whether at church or for the senior citizens at Capitol Hill United Methodist Church and Midwest City Senior Center he was always ready to play his bass guitar. All that knew him found out quick that he was a Christian and he liked you no matter what your beliefs were. He was a simple man who was content to be in the background but was always willing to help wherever he was asked. He will be remembered and missed for his practical jokes. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother Jack Snyder. He is survived by his wife of 53 years (Nov 10th), JoAnn; three children and their spouses, Vicki and Dean Cargill, Cynthia and Kirk Nall, and Tim K. Snyder; six grandchildren, Tyson and Tanner Cargill, Mende Nall and Lacey Courtney(Craig), Jordan and Jesse Snyder; one sister, Mary Ann Snyder; and man's best friend, his poodle, Pepper. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 19, 2004 in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
