She was born in Oklahoma City to William Todd and Gertrude Parsons Taliaferro. She attended Classen High School and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. She taught at Nichols Hills Elementary School for several years. She married Richard Eugene Swan, and they were active in the Oklahoma City cultural and civic community, Mrs. Swan was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was active in the Altar Guild, Episcopal Church Women, St. Nicholas Guild and Chairman of the Junior Assembly. She later joined All Souls" Episcopal Church. Mrs. Swan was a board member of the Oklahoma City Junior League. She was an active member of the Women's Committee of the Symphony, the Oklahoma City Art Museum, and Allied Arts Circle Club. Mrs. Swan was a member of several Patriotic organizatlons. She was president of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Oklahoma and also served at the national level. She was a life master at bridge, and she enjoyed Wednesday Study Club and extensive travel with her husband and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. Swan. She is survived by her children Marilyn Case and husband Jim, and Susan McPherson and husband Mike, her grandchildren Susan Cornette and husband Jim, Carey Robertson and husband Kevin, John Taylor Currie and Richard Todd Currie, and four great grandchildren. The services will be held at All Souls" Episcopal Church at three o'clock, Friday January 3. Memorials may be made to All Souls" Episcopal Church or to a charity of your choice.
