All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Thompson, Pearline Pearline Alexander is a 4th generation American born to William "Sonny" Alexander and Martha Anna Pipkins, both retired educators, on Feb. 15, 1917 in Carthage Panola County-Texas. She joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church under Pastor Isaiah Barron, in Carthage, Texas at an early age and graduated from the Panola County Training School in 1935. On June 6th 1938, she married Orelious "OT" Thompson. She was a mother of three children: City Council Woman Willa Johnson, Fred Earl Thompson and Walter Ray Thompson. Grandmother of six: Steven Craig Hammond (Cherri), Nikki Washington Givens (David), Lara Janene Thompson, Warren Keith Johnson, Roderick Earl Thompson and Darren Wooley. Great Grandmother of four: Stevon Ladale Hammond, Crystal D"che Hammond, Devin Thompson and Mason Taylor Givens. In 1942, she moved from Longview, Texas to Oklahoma City with her two oldest children to join her husband where they united with the St. John Missionary Baptist Church soon after her arrival. Her favorite seat throughout her membership was the first seat in the middle aisle on the sixth row she claimed it until her health prevented her from attending regularly. She loved her pastor and church family. In addition to her parenting role she served as a domestic worker for many years with various families in OKC. Some of her hobbies included fishing, baking, canning, gardening and quilting. She had a "GIVING SPIRIT", always offering whatever she had to who ever she came in contact with. Constantly reminding folks to "BRING HER JARS BACK HOME!!!" She was a faithful member of the Bible Learners Sunday school class and the Edwards Community Club where she held various offices. She also was a member of the McFarland Branch YWCA. She leaves to mourn in addition to family members listed above, two brothers, James Monroe Alexander, San Antonio, Texas and Haymon Alexander, Oklahoma City,loyal and dear friends Mrs. Areva Sparks, Longview, Texas, Delois & Demp House & Denolvid whom she affectionately called the three D's. A very long list of other beloved relatives and friends both young and old too numerous to name at this writing. Her parents, brother John, daughter-in-law Myrtis Jackson Thompson, sister in- law Georgia Alexander and favorite niece Barbara Alexander Pete preceded her in death. The family sincerely appreciates all the prayers, gifts, cards, flowers and visits over our loved ones" long illness. Special thanks to Mrs. Delois House, the late Erma White, Nettie "Jo" Jackson, Delphine Pilate, Emily Ardoin, Clara Miles, Jerry Richardson, Ollie Haskins, Reverend Miles and Brother Ransom. The Health Care Professional at Edwards Redeemer Nursing Center, especially Ernestine Stafford, Mary Minus and Ronnie Hill among others. Southern Hospice Staff members, Rebecah Doss, Gina Ray and Amy Howard. LEC Mission Group and WMU Circle # 5. Presbyterian Hospital Staff and Ms. Emily Rose who was at her side when she put on her wings. In appreciation to the many friends who have prayed with and for us, shared joy and mingled tears with us, telephoned, sent cards, brought food and visited with us. We are ever so humble, grateful and appreciative for whatever part you"ve played. We pray that God's blessings will continue to shower upon each of you! With his love & ours.
