Tomlin, age 69, was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 7, 2005, at Baptist Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born June 29, 1936, in Rosston, Arkansas, to Ambrose and Anna Dixon Tomlin. After graduation from college at Henderson University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, he entered the United States Army where he served in France as a pharmacy specialist. He was employed in the food business for many years and was District Manager for Oklahoma and Arkansas for Hormel Foods. He eventually entered the food brokerage business and owned his own company, The Tomlin Company, for several years. After retirement, he was employed part-time for Equipment Technology, Inc. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 41 years, Wanda Wagner Tomlin, of Edmond, Oklahoma, son, Doug Tomlin, Jr. and wife, Kim, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son, Steve Tomlin and wife, Maureen Tomlin, of Venice, California, a step-grandson, Kyle Walkabout, and a soon-to-be-born granddaughter, Bree Nicole Tomlin. of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Molly Tomlin, grandson, Nicholas Tomlin, and granddaughter, Francis Tomlin, of Venice. Heaved his grandchildren dearly and had so looked forward to the birth of Bree. Doug was a member of Britton Baptist Church for 34 years. He was ordained a deacon in 1969 at Lincoln Park Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan, and has served in that capacity ever since. He was also an adult Sunday School Director at Britton Baptist. He is also survived by one sister, Margueritte Grubbs, of Little Rock, Arkansas, one sister-in-law, Margaret Tomlin, of Dallas, Texas, two nephews and their families, Dennis Grubbs of Little Rock and John Grubbs of Fort Myers, Florida, and three nieces and their families, Janice Tomlin, Kathy Muehleman and Diane Fisher, all of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivy Tomlin of Dallas, and Herschel Tomlin, of Camden, Arkansas. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Nina Wagner, of Casa, Arkansas, and many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews of his wife, Wanda, along with many other relatives, church family and friends. A memorial service in celebration of Doug's life will be held at Britton Baptist Church on Thursday night, August 11, at 7 p.m. His ashes will be buried at Hamilton Cemetery near Casa, Arkansas, where his father-in-law, Albert Lee Wagner, and many of his wife's relatives are buried. There will be a graveside service on Saturday morning, August 13, at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Britton Baptist Church, 1141 West Britton, Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73114.
